Prayers!

There is a family in desperate need of prayers, and I know I can count on this community here to drop to your knees in prayer. Today at work a friend of mine shared an absolutely heart wrenching situation that her best friend is going through. I have met her friend a few times, and she is an incredibly sweet woman. This woman and her husband are expecting a baby, and they just found out that he has Trisomy 18. I honestly don't know very much about it, but from what was explained to me there is an extremely high chance that he could be stillborn. And less than 10% of these children live past one year. As you can imagine, this couple is struggling immensely. My friend mentioned that her friend is struggling with the decision of "what to do", and with the way this mother was talking to her it sounds like terminating the pregnancy is one of the options being considered. My heart ached for this family immediately, but when I heard about this consideration my heart broke into about a million pieces. Please join me in prayer for an increase in faith and hope for all those affected by this news and for guidance for this young couple. Pray that they choose life for their little guy. I'm also praying for a miracle, that baby boy may grow and thrive.

  1. Lisa. A friend of mine had a baby boy about 2 years ago that was diagnosed with Trisomy 18. it was so sad since he died hours after birth (which they expected but was still very difficult), but they were faithful and did not "terminate" as every single doctor and nurse they came into contact with suggested they do. some were even surprised that they wouldn't consider it and probably thought they were helping out by explaining the risks and the so-called "hopeless" future for this child...they completely understood and were still choosing life for this child - doctors and nurses could not understand this so it was very difficult being questioned every step of the way. i know they do not regret giving him life, if even for a few hours as they got to hold him and love him and he is now their saint, interceding for them in heaven. they named him Benedict.

they had struggled for a long time to get pregnant the first time but several months after Benedict died, they found out they were pregnant again. guess when their baby was due? no doubt - the feast day of St. Benedict - July 11. he was born about a week later and they named him Michael Francis. He is about 2 months younger than our Mark and they live a few miles from us. what a beautiful witness to me and everyone along they way who heard the story. God is good and uses all things for HIS glory. all we suffer with can be our path to holiness.

i will pray for this couple and the baby.
